A Floral Affair: Behind the Scenes of Our Spring Tablescape Shoot

Updated: Jun 16

A Celebration of Florals & New Inventory

ree

As winter faded, I felt a pull to create something that celebrated spring’s return — something warm, abundant, and romantic. This shoot is the result: a floral-forward, inventory-showcasing, joyfully styled gathering, complete with rich textures, vintage charm, and the softest palette of blooms.

The goal? A dreamy, layered tablescape where every element — from the dishes to the flowers — felt intentional. Burgundy napkins tied with cream bows sat atop vintage-inspired plates, framed by scalloped chargers and ribbed coupe glasses.

Floating above it all: a statement floral arch I built from scratch, designed to bring the outside in and cast a soft, storybook spell over the whole setting.

How I Built the Floral Arch

I wanted to create an overhead installation that could be repurposed for future events — dramatic, but modular.

Here’s how I made it happen:

  1. Start with an over-the-table rod. I used a sturdy, metal adjustable rod as the base.

  2. Secure floral foam garlands. I zip-tied them to the rod to hold shape and support weight.

  3. Layer artificial and real florals. I used a combination from my prop inventory and fresh stems for movement.

  4. Add trailing greenery. Ivy and textured leaves gave the arch a natural, garden-style finish.

Bonus: this whole arch breaks down easily and can be restyled to suit any colour scheme.

The Menu: A Parisian Dream

A feast as beautiful as the table. I styled a spread that felt relaxed but still elevated:

  • Waffle platter with softened butter pats

  • Fresh berry & cream parfaits

  • Buttery croissants + raspberry danishes

  • Seasonal salad with apple, walnut, and fig

  • Smoked salmon platter with bagels, cream cheese, lemon, cucumber & dill

  • Fresh citrus juice, bubbly, and floral garnishes

Details I Loved

  • Pastel taper candles that created softness and glow

  • Mismatched bud vases with single stems for a whimsical touch

  • A low table setup with striped seat cushions — relaxed, charming, and intimate

  • The subtle heart pattern on the plates (a guest favourite)
